  • The Town of Mooresville and the Biffle family invite locals to Downtown Mooresville on Friday, Jan. 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. to honor racing legend Greg Biffle with a tribute burnout by Cleetus McFarland and a memorabilia display at the Charles Mack Citizen Center (sponsored by local racing groups).  Iredell Free News

  • Small Business Center launches PowerUp Iredell accelerator—backed by a $25K Duke Energy Foundation grant—to help local entrepreneurs. The eight-week program offers Tuesday sessions from 6—7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Technology and Workforce Development Center in Statesville and ends with a pitch competition on March 24.  Iredell Free News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the recent MGSD Board meeting, Superintendent Jason Gardner renewed calls for a pay raise for teachers amid rising living costs in Mooresville—he noted that current wages lag behind local income and housing costs.   • TDS Telecom awarded a $10,000 STEM grant to Mooresville Graded School District to help fund SparkLabs (collaborative learning spaces that encourage hands-on STEM projects) and the district will use the funds to boost tech-driven education for students.  Mooresville Tribune
