- ➤ Retired educator John Sherrill announced his candidacy for the District 3 seat on the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education. The lifelong resident, who served 31 years in local schools (including key roles in budget management), plans to address system issues if elected. Iredell Free News

- ➤ Iredell County Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning request for 13.44 acres along River Highway (at a Tuesday night meeting) near Mooresville to allow high-density commercial development. The change increases allowable impervious area for a wet detention pond that will support retail and boat and RV storage uses. Iredell Free News
