Good morning, Mooresville.

JMS Southeast gave $653.67 from its January vending machine earnings to Iredell Friends of the Library to support library programs—Librarian Jenny Levins-Hertel said the donation helps boost services in the community.

During their March meeting, the Iredell Homelessness Collaborative discussed plans to support rising numbers of unhoused residents and expand Fifth Street Ministries’ shelter capacity from 80 to 100 residents—amid a county unsheltered count of 84 and a total of 191 across five counties. Members announced a series of upcoming employment events, training programs and job fairs, and they will reconvene on April 7 via Zoom to share further details.

On March 7, three Iredell County veterans graduated from the Veterans Treatment Court in Statesville after completing a 16-month program addressing substance abuse and mental health issues.

They reached key sobriety milestones (Michael McCaleb 519 days, Adrien Guillory 448 days, Thomas Turbiville 512 days) that have helped them rebuild their lives.

Iredell Health System named Holly Murzyn as its new director of provider relations to connect local providers with the health system and improve patient care—she brings nearly twenty years of healthcare experience and a strong community bond.
