- ➤ The Boys & Girls Club of the Piedmont held its third Annual Pancake Day: Iredell's Happiest Day last Thursday at the Statesville Civic Center where 260 volunteers served pancakes and sausage to help raise funds for programs that support 275 students—local groups and a title sponsor joined efforts to beat last year’s $124,500 total by aiming for $135,000. - ➤ Bethlehem Park reopened on April 1. The new building now offers double the restrooms, a new kitchen area, two serving windows — and picnic areas on both sides. Statesville Record & Landmark
- ➤ Mitchell Community College President Tim Brewer received the Mooresville Citizen of the Year Award from the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber—a recognition of his steadfast service to the community and support for local businesses—and has led the college since 2012. - ➤ Third Creek Elementary lost longtime teacher Michael Gercyz, known as Mr. G, early this school year, and his loss impacted the whole community. On March 28, students and teachers jogged to honor him and raise funds for a memorial bench that will be dedicated on May 23 (the last day of school). Iredell Free News
- ➤ A recent Iredell Ready Workforce Forum brought local and state leaders together to review progress in education and workforce readiness. The forum noted gains such as a 35% wage increase from 2018 to 2023 and improved graduation rates as well as new partnerships with myFutureNC and The Hunt Institute—strengthening career pathways for residents.
