- ➤ Justyn Jack Jenkins, 26, from Mooresville died when his disabled 2021 Hyundai Kona—lying sideways after an earlier collision—was hit by a 2019 Freightliner near mile marker 30 on I-77 early Tuesday at about 3 a.m. as the driver, Hartford Leon Cunningham, 58 from Charlotte, was uninjured and investigators said speed and impairment were not factors during a three-hour roadway closure. - ➤ 57-year-old Barry Wayne Stewart — held at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury — pleaded guilty pursuant to an Alford plea for possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park and was sentenced today to 26-44 months in prison by Iredell County Superior Court. - ➤ A Statesville man on probation for drug convictions, Kelley Lamont Allison Jr., 33, was arrested on April 4 after trying to avoid an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office checkpoint on Highway 64 West near Tarlton Road—officers later discovered MDMA, marijuana, and a handgun in his vehicle, resulting in new charges. - ➤ Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education Vice Chair Abby Trent resigned her post effective April 4 because she moved out of Iredell County after facing harassment and stalking from a family member—she will no longer serve on the board.
