  • Mike Calinoff, a former NASCAR spotter, founded Doglogics in 2017 to offer lake area dog owners clear dog training methods and structured guidelines. He explains that most dog behavioral issues come from mixed signals—owners giving too much leniency early—and that even reactive dogs can learn with consistent, fair leadership.  Mooresville Citizen

CRIME NEWS

  • A 27-year-old man from Trent Road was arrested on Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle charges after police found him with a stolen Chevrolet pickup on Monday, April 7th— he was set on a $15,000 secured bond and his record includes misdemeanor assault and reckless driving.  Iredell Free News
  • 40-year-old Tamir Elsea Randall pleaded guilty to attempted trafficking in methamphetamine, driving while impaired, and possession of a firearm by a felon during a recent Iredell County Superior Court session—he was sentenced to 27 to 42 months in prison after narcotics officers found a 9 millimeter pistol and 1,076 grams of marijuana at a residence on Logan Street in Statesville on February 18th, 2022.  WHKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rep. Todd Carver visited Mooresville High School on April 7 and met with students + staff to learn about the school’s Career and Technical Education program and discuss challenges and opportunities in public education. Superintendent Jason Gardner said the visit builds connections that help lawmakers understand the real needs of local schools.  Iredell Free News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, April 8, N.C. Department of Transportation crews closed the entrance ramp from N.C. 150 to I-77 South in Mooresville just after midnight until 5 a.m.—the closure began tree work in the area.  Mooresville Tribune
  • Town commissioners approved two major projects at the April 7 meeting—one to restore Moor Park with a $10+ million contract that adds a 900-seat grandstand, new facilities and improvements to the playing field, and another to overhaul the stormwater network along East Center Avenue that replaces a crumbling culvert and adds waterfall tiers to the creek near Willow Valley Park. The Moor Park project will start this month and be completed by May, while the stormwater work may close part of East Center for up to 120 days in summer to ease school traffic.  Mooresville Citizen

HEALTH NEWS

  • The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported on April 9 that more than 500 flu-related deaths occurred during the 2024 to 2025 respiratory virus season (the highest number recorded since broad reporting began in 2009).  WHKY
