  • A Connecticut man, 35-year-old Leronte Raynard Myers, was arrested on a felony drug charge after an Iredell County sheriff’s deputy stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 77 near Tomlin Mill Road on April 16 when a canine detected narcotics—25 grams of psilocybin mushrooms—in his car, and he now faces charges for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia with bond set at $20,000.  Iredell Free News

  • Construction will begin soon on a new $2 million visitor center at Fort Dobbs historic site—this will be the first purpose-built facility for visitors.   • Dr. Steven Landau at Piedmont HealthCare performed his 100th Inspire procedure at Iredell Memorial Hospital—using a small implant to keep airways open for patients who do not tolerate traditional CPAP therapy.   • Troutman resident Kaden Buchmann won his second event of the season on Saturday at Kerr Lake by catching a five-bass limit weighing 17 pounds, 2 ounces—earning $4,182 in prize money. He had strong finishes earlier this season with a win on March 1 at Lake Norman and second-place finishes on March 30 at Smith Mountain Lake and April 12 at High Rock Lake.  Iredell Free News
