- ➤ At Thursday’s ceremony at Heritage House in Mooresville, United Way of Iredell County honored 16 community volunteers. Michael Davidson received both the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award and the Medallion Award for his work with G4G Ministries and other groups + his selfless efforts have been widely praised. - ➤ About 600 people attended the second annual Charles Fest in northern Iredell County on Saturday, where founder Kevin Robertson praised the vendors and attendees as the festival featured 35 craft vendors, five food trucks, 20 antique tractors and family activities like an inflatable slide, bounce house and horse/carriage rides. He said he may plan a fall event and invited community members to share ideas for future festivals. Iredell Free News

- ➤ The Iredell County Register of Deeds Office will honor veterans and active-duty service members with a Military Appreciation Hot Dog Drive-Thru Lunch on May 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 211 Constitution Lane in Statesville—service members will receive a hot dog lunch with chips and a drink as part of Military Appreciation Month.
