Good morning, Mooresville.

Hope of Mooresville announced Tuesday that it raised $21,000 through its Housing Heroes Challenge to help families facing homelessness in town.

Prospect Presbyterian Church earned $7,533 as the top fundraiser, with supporters celebrating at Hoptown (a community event).

Residents and county officials gathered in Statesville at the corner of Stockton and North Tradd streets to dedicate the Iredell County Liberty Tree (celebrating 250 years of heritage) and honor local patriots and shared freedoms.

Dennis Cowardin was honored with the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award for his 20 years of volunteer work in Mooresville and Iredell County.

His countless annual hours of service (official event details pending) show his strong commitment to the community.

During Monday night's I-SS board meeting, members argued over legal issues linked to the vacant District 2 seat after Chairman Kevin Angell resigned.

A tied 3-3 vote left the seat unfilled (members remain divided over the nomination of Matthew Youngblood).

Iredell Health System has named Angela (Angel) Ross as its new chief nursing officer and vice president of Nursing & Patient.

She will lead the system’s nursing and patient care departments.
