- ➤ On May 3, the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department held a Chicken and Pork BBQ fundraiser at 3351 Harmony Highway where volunteers cooked more than 1,000 half chickens and over 1,800 pounds of pork — proceeds will pay for a hydraulic rescue combination tool and battery-operated power tools to equip the ladder truck as it is refurbished. The fire department will host its next BBQ fundraiser on November 1 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out. Iredell Free News

- ➤ Iredell County deputies arrested Joshua Andrew Moore and Jazmin Marie Webb Tuesday after an early morning break-in near Troutman—both suspects were found hiding in a trailer behind a home on Davis Trail Lane and face charges including burglary and assault related to a break-in near Mooresville. - ➤ DACI members observed Alcohol Awareness Month as coordinator Kristin Blumenstein presented alcohol use statistics including 488 U.S. deaths each day and links to seven cancers. The coalition will host several outreach events for drug and alcohol education — including a DACI meeting on May 19 — and partner with health groups to offer free resources to youth and seniors.
