- ➤ North Carolina earned rankings of 7th best economy and 5th best growth from U.S. News and World Report, moving up to an overall rank of 13th from 19th last year—Gov. - ➤ The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education reviewed the draft 2025-2026 Career Technical Education plan on Monday and heard stories from students in health care and technology programs. - ➤ Iredell County Emergency Communications and the Sheriff’s Office are launching RapidSOS 911 Live Video, a tool that lets 911 callers send live video to dispatchers—providing clear visuals to help first responders assess emergencies faster. Iredell Free News
- ➤ Mooresville commissioners postponed the June 2 public hearing on a proposed data center on 400 acres east of town while they plan fact-finding visits to similar facilities to check on community impacts—such as noise, light and utility use. They also approved spending over $7 million for a new water tower near the Shepherds Fire-Rescue station on the town’s north side with added design and oversight costs. Mooresville Citizen
- ➤ Troutman Town Manager Ron Wyatt and Town Attorney Jason Ralston are finalizing a resolution to impose a six-month moratorium on new residential development due to unresolved sewer capacity issues linked to Mooresville’s pending plant expansion. The moratorium will not affect already approved projects or business and industrial developments — the council will review progress before each expiration and may lift the hold if sewer issues are resolved sooner.
