COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Monday, Mooresville hosted a ceremony at the Charles Mack Citizen Center to honor local Team Penske and NASCAR champions Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney — the event recognized 34 years of service and 152 NASCAR Cup wins. Mayor Chris Carney and town board members presented a proclamation that celebrated three consecutive championships and deep local ties — drawing many racing industry figures to the tribute.  Mooresville Citizen
  • Children’s Homes of Iredell County said the need for foster families is urgent as more children join the foster care system. The nonprofit will hold foster parent training classes starting June 9 to help families learn how to provide safe and stable homes.  Iredell Free News
  • Lance Cpl Tim McNeely, a Mooresville native who died in 1983 while serving in Lebanon, will be honored at the Coca-Cola 600 race this Memorial Day Weekend—his name appearing on the Joe Gibbs Racing car driven by Denny Hamlin. High school friends and his sister will attend the race as NASCAR holds its 600 Miles of Remembrance to pay tribute to fallen service members.  Mooresville Citizen
  • Mooresville will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 26 with a ceremony held at Liberty Park at 10 a.m.—hosted by the Exchange Club of Mooresville Lake Norman to honor local veterans.
