- ➤ Thanks to donations from many local supporters, United Way of Iredell County reached 94% of its 2024–2025 giving campaign goal by raising $863,826 of the $925,342 target. The effort supports 57 local nonprofits that help people in need and asks donors to contribute before the campaign ends. Iredell Free News
- ➤ Troutman will hold its 20th Annual Independence Day Parade on June 28 with a start at 11 a.m. along Main Street/Highway 21—veterans and active-duty military can join the float as Grand Marshal. A fireworks show will take place on July 3 at Iredell County Fairgrounds—gates open at 6:30 p.m. with fireworks beginning around 9:30 p.m. Iredell Free News

- ➤ The N.C. State Highway Patrol said a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 truck lost control on I-77 south near mile marker 39 Friday night when speed and impairment contributed to the crash that struck a tree and killed Conover resident Timmy Hillard Hartsoe Jr.+ the truck’s driver, Floyd Dale Davis II of Newton, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and I-77 was closed for two hours. - ➤ At about 8:20 p.m. on May 30, troopers responded to a crash on I-77 South near mile marker 39 in Iredell County when a 39-year-old man allegedly speeding while driving impaired lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet S-10—resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to him and the fatal injury of his 43-year-old passenger, with charges pending. - ➤ Troutman Police arrested three suspects after traffic stops on Charlotte Highway on May 28 and 29; a man aged 29 faced drug charges after fentanyl was found during a stop, a man aged 41 was charged after officers discovered methamphetamine in his vehicle, and a man aged 35 faced gun charges after a stolen Ruger pistol was found — his bond was set at $7,500.
