EDUCATION NEWS

  • Iredell-Statesville Schools Superintendent Jeff James announced that Nic Allen is the new principal at Lake Norman High School and will replace retiring principal Bill Shapcott, with Allen set to start on July 7. He brings strong experience from his time at Harmony Elementary and other school roles — a move aimed at continuing the school’s record of success.  Iredell Free News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At the June 16 meeting, town officials approved a new contract amendment with Balfour Beatty to start preliminary work on a downtown multi-level parking deck—designed to add 451 parking spaces (rising to 512 with adjacent improvements), a police annex, retail space, and open areas—and raise design costs to nearly $1.6 million. A complete design and final cost estimate will be ready in about nine months as part of the town’s broader downtown improvement plan.  Mooresville Citizen
  • Second Assistant Chief Rhonda Faust of the Mooresville Police Department will attend the 295th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va, starting June 28 — Faust has nearly 29 years of service and is the department’s first female assistant chief.  Iredell Free News

  • On June 18, Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital held its first White Coat Ceremony to welcome 31 new providers at its Mooresville campus (each received a personalized white coat with the Duke Health insignia) as the hospital expands its services in the Lake Norman area.  Iredell Free News
