The Troutman Foundation approved over $41,500 in grants to local nonprofits, including a matching grant (up to $10,000) for United Way’s food bank initiative, to support children, families, and individuals while carrying forward Ernest and Kathryn Troutman’s legacy.

The Iredell Statesville Board approved the CTE Local Application plan for the 2026-2027 school year to grow career readiness programs amid funding cuts + the plan adds tech labs, career events for students and partnerships with local industries to boost workforce development.

Doosan Bobcat, Mitchell Community College, and ApprenticeshipNC hosted an apprenticeship ceremony honoring Spring 2026 completers (including Isaac Mayberry, who earned the Outstanding Registered Apprentice Award) and two others nearing their Mechatronic Engineering degrees (mentored by Mark Willett).

Mountain Island Charter's track teams finished second at the 2A meet in May, with sophomore Cameron Gaston earning MVP honors and senior Ajuliah Washington winning gold in high jump (coach Robert Washington noted their strong work ethic).
