ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire on Resource Drive at 12:20 p.m. on July 6 prompted Shepherds Fire Rescue and local fire departments (Mooresville, Mount Mourne, Troutman, South Iredell) to act quickly after all occupants had evacuated but a child and several animals remained inside, with a family member later finding the child safe and crews containing the fire to one room without any injuries. WHKY
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On July 9, Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers arrested 23-year-old Randall Chance Millsaps of Hiddenite and 21-year-old Dalton Wayne McAlister of Troutman after they were caught shooting fireworks at an occupied home on Buffalo Shoals Road, with Millsaps facing felony conspiracy and other charges and McAlister facing felony damage to occupied property with explosives and conspiracy. - ➤ Mooresville Arts has two new exhibits at The Depot with an artists’ reception on Friday, July 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.—the Art of Fiber Exhibit in the Center Gallery shows 41 artworks by 18 artists while the Pop Culture Exhibit in the Skylight Gallery displays works by 19 local and regional artists—both running until August 14. - ➤ Iredell County organizations dedicated a peacemaking monument today. The eight-foot structure (carved with 'May peace prevail' in English and other languages) honors the call for peace. Mooresville Tribune
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Iredell County EMS now has a Carter Kit— a sensory bag with a weighted blanket, noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, sunglasses, and a cue card— in every EMS vehicle to help calm children in emergencies, including those with sensory sensitivities. The kits were provided at no cost through the N.C. Emergency Medical Services for Children program and will be replaced if any items are used. Iredell Free News
