- ➤ Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell charged two men after a vehicle launched fireworks at an occupied home on Buffalo Shoals Road on Saturday, July 5—sparks from one firework caused property damage and a vehicle search led to additional charges for a female passenger accused of underage drinking. - ➤ Troutman Town Council members expressed concern at a recent meeting—reporting that in-person and social media threats were made against them, and Mayor Teross Young advised reporting such incidents immediately to law enforcement. Police Chief Josh Watson said current law treats these threats as misdemeanors, but a proposed bill would upgrade them to a felony. WHKY
- ➤ Mooresville Town Board approved on Monday a plan to borrow nearly $16 million to fund a modern Moor Park, a new Public Library project, and Lee Street Park, with next steps including a reading on August 4, commission approval on August 5, and financing closing on August 28 — all with no tax impact. The board also approved an economic incentive for Sheets Laundry Club, landmark designation for Mount Mourne Plantation, and conditional zoning for the Lake Norman Tennis Center — all actions passed unanimously.
