ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A weekend fire on Long Island Road at 1:50 p.m. Saturday in Iredell County displaced a family and injured a firefighter — firefighters from Iredell, Catawba, Troutman, Monticello, and Stony Point fought the blaze while the American Red Cross aided the family and investigators look into the cause.  WHKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Iredell-Statesville Schools officials and Unified PTCO members boosted funding for inner-city schools when they received a $10,000 check from First Presbyterian Church on July 14 to cover tech fees for low-income students + the group also received a $2,000 check from Allen Tate Realty for the upcoming school year and a $10,000 check from Pilot Travel Company to address student needs across 11 schools.  Iredell Free News

  • Iredell County Government posted job openings on July 19 and is recruiting for roles in Parks and Recreation, Emergency Medical Services, Social Services, law enforcement and support positions. Many jobs offer a $2,500 sign-on bonus—openings remain subject to pre-employment screenings and offer varied pay scales.  Iredell Free News
  • Ballots are set for Iredell County elections on November 4 in Statesville, Mooresville, Troutman, and Davidson as residents prepare to vote for city and town leaders; absentee voting begins October 3 with requests accepted until October 21, one-stop early voting runs from October 16 to November 1, and voter registration closes on October 10 — these deadlines ensure local voters can cast their ballots.  Mooresville Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Iredell Health System recently recognized employees who served between five and 50 years by hosting an ice cream social for those with shorter service and a dinner with awards at Statesville Country Club for those with 20 years or more.
