CRIME NEWS

  • Kaylan Obrien Brandon, 30, pleaded guilty to felony death by distribution and involuntary manslaughter for providing drugs that led to the November overdoses killing Brittany Peace, 33, and Heather Wilson, 35—he was sentenced to serve between 8.5 and 12 years and began his term Monday at Craven Correctional Institution.  Iredell Free News

  • Starting in August, Iredell-Statesville Schools will enforce a Clear Bag Policy and no-re-entry rule at athletic events after receiving fan feedback—students below high school must be accompanied by a parent. Fans are reminded to follow the Fan Code of Conduct to help ensure a safe environment.  Iredell Free News
  • Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital hosted Camp Med — a three-day summer learning program that gave Iredell County high school students over 20 contact hours of presentations, tours, and clinical experiences — to help them explore careers in health care.
