🚨 Crime
Iredell County sheriff’s office raided two homes on Aug.
8 after receiving drug trafficking tips and arrested nine adults while seizing drugs, firearms and paraphernalia — children were taken by social services at one location.
A Harmony man, 27-year-old Peyton Seth Shortridge, was pulled over on Interstate 77 Tuesday and arrested after deputy W.
Wiedenmann’s canine partner — Levi — detected 44 grams of methamphetamine in his car, and he now faces felony charges for trafficking methamphetamine by possession and transport plus a misdemeanor charge for resisting an officer.
🎓 Education
South Iredell students won a national video contest for their AI cane designed to help the vision impaired.
The device impressed judges by making a real impact on the lives of people who need assistance with their vision.
MGSD Chief Operations Officer Scott Smith said bus drivers committed 19 stop-arm violations during the first five days of school and that the district reported the offenders to law enforcement.
The district is boosting safety by installing new GPS systems—one on each bus—to alert parents about bus arrivals and keep buses on time.
