- ➤ The North Carolina Department of Transportation will start replacing the 63-year-old bridge over Third Creek on Wood Bridge Road on Monday, August 25 by having R.E. Burns and Sons work on the $1.5 million project, which builds a new bridge with wider lanes and no weight restrictions; a signed detour on U.S. 64 and Island Ford Road will guide drivers until work finishes in fall.
