- ➤ At Iredell County Animal Shelter, volunteer coordinator Tracy Sanchez has launched the Books and Buddies program—inviting children 14 and older to improve their reading skills by reading to the shelter’s animals while building community ties. - ➤ On August 22nd, the Hopewell Titans kicked off the Brandon Sneed era by defeating East Meck by a score of 22 to 15 in Huntersville—and their win set the stage for the season. Mooresville Citizen
- ➤ On Friday night in Huntersville, the SouthLake Christian Eagles beat Lake Norman Charter in overtime by a score of 13 to 7. Junior quarterback Cameron Gandy scored on a goal line run, freshman Haze Dodson tied the game, and junior Jacob McKinney produced the winning touchdown—the Eagles now have 1 win and 0 losses and will host Christ the King next Friday while Lake Norman will play Garinger at home. - ➤ The Town of Mooresville, the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame, and Visit Mooresville will host the Mooresville Motorsports Celebration on Tuesday, September 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. on Main Street, with a Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony at 5 p.m. honoring NASCAR legends Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman as the event features classic car shows, food trucks, music, and race-themed activities.
