- ➤ The 89th Iredell County Agricultural Fair opened on Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and will run through September 6, featuring nine days of exhibits, competitions, and events for local families—admission is $8 with free entry for children 6 and under. Iredell Free News

- ➤ Between August 20 and August 29, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office made multiple felony arrests for charges such as drug possession, larceny, kidnapping and domestic violence—several incidents involved suspects in Mooresville facing serious firearm and domestic violence allegations. - ➤ On LaborDay, government offices and public services in Mooresville and nearby counties will adjust hours and delay garbage pickups—Mooresville town offices are closed on Monday while parks and the seasonal pool remain open. Mooresville Tribune
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ At a candlelight vigil held Thursday at Christ Church in Statesville, the Drug-Alcohol Coalition of Iredell remembered those lost to overdose during Overdose Awareness Week with about 40 attendees. Recovery Pastor Brian King led the service with music and the passing of a flame — a symbol of hope as local efforts helped decrease the overdose death rate by 57 percent. Iredell Free News
