- ➤ Bobbi Williams was honored at Statesville Fitness and Activity Center when a registration event for the Special Olympics Sports Program recognized her as the 2025 North Carolina Special Olympics Local Coordinator of the Year—complete with a decorated cake, bouquet of roses and heartfelt notes—while the program launched registration for fall, winter, spring and year-round sports. - ➤ Iredell County deputies found 11 catalytic converters in a car trunk and arrested a man two days later—he claimed he owned a recycling business in Rowan County. Statesville Record & Landmark
- ➤ On September 3, Iredell County Sheriff's deputies stopped Paul Daniel Sanchez on I-77 after noticing drug paraphernalia and signs of criminal activity in his Mercedes-Benz, and a search found over 600 THC vape cartridges that led to his arrest on felony drug charges + a $75,000 bond. - ➤ North Carolina State Auditor Dave Boliek spoke at the Lake Norman Chamber's Legislative Luncheon on August 21 at NorthStone Country Club — he explained his office's work in protecting taxpayer money and boosting government efficiency.
