- ➤ The Troutman Exchange Club is accepting pre-orders for the 2nd Annual Ham Day fundraiser set for October 4 (to benefit local youth athletics scholarships and the Marine Corps JROTC Drill Team). Pre-orders run from September 1 to October 3 and ham biscuits will be available for pick-up at the Troutman Event Center and selected traffic intersections. Iredell Free News
- ➤ Mooresville’s Experience & Engagement Department and sponsor DeBotech will host the third annual BBB Fest on Saturday, Sept 13—events in downtown and Liberty Park will feature music from Jefferson Starship and Night Ranger plus food trucks, craft beer and barbecue from 4 to 9 p.m. Mooresville Citizen
- ➤ Steve Wooten was honored Saturday with a life membership and special recognition from the North Iredell Rescue Squad for 50 years of service—his work included starting a support program to help first responders deal with tough calls. - ➤ Firefighters from West Iredell, Troutman, and Monticello arrived at 3:31 a.m. Wednesday on Sharon School Road to fight a structure fire that started on the exterior and was contained to the attic by an aggressive interior attack, leaving a family displaced with no injuries while the Fire Marshal investigates – the Red Cross is assisting the affected family. - ➤ West Wilson Avenue will be closed from Sept 15 for up to 180 days for a road widening project that will add a multi-use path and improve traffic flow near Country Club Apartments (a detour will use West Wilson, South Main, West McLelland, N.C. 150 and U.S. 21). The work is part of a $34.8 million project on Brawley School Road with construction set to finish in early 2029. WHKY
- ➤ On Sept. 2, the town board approved an affordable housing project with Building Homes for Heroes—using eight parcels near Carpenter Avenue for up to 15 homes for veterans and first responders—with work to start within two years and building to finish in five years. West Wilson Avenue will be closed from Country Club Drive to U.S. 21 for six months starting Sept. 15 as part of a plan to ease traffic. Mooresville Citizen
