  • FeedNC has named Angela M. Kline as its new chief executive officer—bringing over 20 years of food and nutrition security experience to a role that will expand meal access and workforce training for Mooresville neighbors.  Iredell Free News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Southern Distilling Company was named the 2025 Distillery of the Year by a national group—Owens said the award honors its quality whiskey and fresh craft methods. The prize is expected to boost the company’s standing in North Carolina.  Statesville Record & Landmark

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board met Monday night and discussed a new policy that will require cellphones to be turned off during instructional time—students may bring them only if needed for health or a personalized plan. Board members will poll principals to define instructional time as the policy must be ready by January 1, 2026.  Iredell Free News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Statesville City Council unanimously approved a rezoning for Compass Datacenters to build a 1.34 million square foot data center on a 350-acre site near exit 146 along Interstate 40; the project will consist of five buildings and is likely to face scrutiny over traffic and environmental impact (including concerns from nearby Mooresville residents).  Statesville Record & Landmark

SPORTS NEWS

  • Troutman resident Kaden Buchmann caught 10 bass weighing 29 pounds, 8 ounces over two days at Lake Norman during the final Phoenix Bass Fishing League event — earning $5,043 in prize money. He also finished the Fishing Clash North Carolina Division Angler of the Year race with 1,344 points and a $1,000 prize — setting up his qualification for the upcoming regional tournament on Lake Murray.  Iredell Free News
