- ➤ Local business owners have built a monthly Entertainment District Night event in downtown Mooresville that will start on Saturday, Sept. 20. Eight venues will host live music and activities from 6 p.m. to midnight — including performances by The Groove Skeletons at 158 on Main — to draw more visitors downtown. Mooresville Citizen
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Iredell-Statesville Schools has named Jerrica Scott as principal of Troutman Middle School starting today—she was an assistant principal in Winston-Salem—and Derrick Wishon as principal of North Iredell High School beginning September 22—he has worked as a teacher and administrator in the district. - ➤ Iredell-Statesville Schools board honored the district’s teachers of the year at its September meeting, praising their excellence and commitment to student success. Executive Director of Human Resources Jill Parker said the board also recognized a beginning teacher and a principal of the year — highlighting outstanding local educators — as the district continues to support quality education. - ➤ Brittany Snyder was named the director of Iredell County Veteran Services—she will oversee benefits coordination, advocacy, and outreach for over 15,000 veterans and military families. Snyder brings relevant experience from her U.S. Navy service and previous work as grants coordinator at the county while she prepares to complete her master’s degree in public administration in October.
