Josh's Farmers Market will have a permanent location at 170 Joe Knox Ave. on part of the YMCA campus—ending years of roaming, as the new 6,700-square-foot indoor market and outdoor seasonal areas will open in April 2026.

On September 17, East Iredell Middle School observed Constitution Day when school board member Mike Kubiniec led eighth-grade classes in a mock Constitutional Convention that had students role-playing historical delegates and debating key issues.

Southern Coalition for Social Justice reached a settlement with the N.C.
Parole Commission that will change parole review procedures for those sent to prison as children after problems emerged in Brett Abrams’ case. The new rules—such as requiring full prison records and clear source checks—will provide a fairer review but do not guarantee his release.
