- ➤ Mooresville’s Lowe’s Home Improvement volunteers and American Legion members renovated American Legion Post 321 on North Main Street in Huntersville on September 16 by painting rooms, installing new flooring, ceiling tiles, and adding ADA features. The project was funded by a Lowe’s Hometowns grant—volunteers returned on September 18 to complete door adjustments and extra flooring work. Mooresville Citizen
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Troutman Council passed a 30-month moratorium to stop new residential subdivisions due to full wastewater capacity—projects with approved permits or with substantial funds spent are exempt. The council also approved a 15-year loan option with Truist Bank to buy and renovate the Keystone property into the new Town Hall, saving taxpayers $3 million in interest. Iredell Free News

- ➤ Mooresville native Lynn Wenger, who lost his wife to early-onset frontotemporal dementia in January, will join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Liberty Park this Saturday to honor her memory and raise funds for research—he also published a memoir about his caregiving journey and is donating its profits to the Alzheimer’s Association. - ➤ The town board approved the Courtyards at Brumley Farm project on September 15, which includes a new four-way signalized intersection serving as the neighborhood entrance on Oak Ridge Farm Highway and Landis Highway. Developers have committed to starting intersection construction before the first home is occupied—while also working to secure a setback variance to protect the adjacent Sovereign Traditions store.
