- ➤ Mooresville will host its final Food Truck Festival on October 4 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 on Main and Broad streets and will hold a downtown arts event on October 10 with live music and a 7 p.m. artist reception. The Christian Mission in Mooresville will start a Turkey Trot training program on October 3 that meets Mondays and Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30 at 919 N. Main to help participants prepare for the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot on November 27. Mooresville Citizen

- ➤ Florence Wine and Beer Garden opened today in a renovated 12,000-square-foot space at Merino Mill on South Main Street and welcomes customers with a temporary Italian menu and art displays in a museum-like setting. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned Tuesday, Oct. 7—highlighting owner Michal Bay’s dedication to preserving local heritage. Mooresville Citizen

- ➤ Today the Mooresville Graded School District Board reviewed progress reports on its 2023—2028 Strategic Plan that aims to close Covid learning losses by raising student growth in math and ELA and creating a safer school environment. The board also examined School Improvement Plans that focus on boosting staff retention and strengthening community partnerships. Iredell Free News

- ➤ State Health Director Dr. Larry Greenblatt issued Standing Orders allowing pharmacists to test and treat for flu effective October 1. Pharmacists — after a rapid test — will evaluate patients age 5 and older for flu symptoms and may offer antivirals and preventive treatment to expand timely care. Iredell Free News
