Good morning, Mooresville.

Mooresville Graded School District is boosting student leadership by using programs like Capturing Kids’ Hearts, student clubs, and Skills for the Future to develop academic and social skills—superintendent Jason Gardner said these efforts have improved state test scores and are preparing students for future challenges.

On October 4, over 330 participants and 26 volunteers laced up at the Statesville Family YMCA and raised an estimated $37,000 for cancer patients through the Iredell Health Foundation's support fund.

The event featured a Cancer Survivor Walk and a 1-Mile Run/Walk—additions that honored survivors—and included sponsorships that let local schools participate.

Bandys quarterback Brady Swett, cleared just hours before kickoff despite a recent injury, led the Trojans to a 47-23 win at North Lincoln with key plays by teammates like Kayden Henrickson—helping the team build an early lead and force turnovers.

The Trojans now gear up for a county rivalry game versus Maiden, a contest that could affect their playoff seeding.
