- ➤ Visit Mooresville announced the purchase of two North Main Street buildings to serve as the new headquarters for Mooresville Travel and Tourism Authority, coinciding with the closing of Alexander Zachary Jewelers at 175 N. Main St. Renovations will begin in early 2026 + the space is planned to feature interactive exhibits that tell Mooresville’s story. Mooresville Citizen
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ An Iredell‑Statesville Schools board member is hosting a seminar for parents on screen addiction and warned (We should not be using gizmos as substitute teachers and babysitters) that screens should not replace real teaching and caregiving. Statesville Record & Landmark
- ➤ Iredell-Statesville Schools announced that LaShanda Pressley is the new principal at Lake Norman Elementary School and she will begin her role on November 15—she was previously the assistant principal at Flat Rock Middle School. Iredell Free News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iredell County commissioners approved a $46,547 economic development incentive for VICCI Inc, an alliance between Riley Motorsports in Mooresville and Kellymoss Motorsports that plans to invest up to $3.05 million in a 157,000-square-foot building with job creation, while the board also approved a full build-out design for a new regional farmers market at the county fairgrounds with site work set to begin in March or April and a grand opening planned for 2027 — additional restroom estimates will be reviewed soon. - ➤ The Civil Air Patrol held a search and rescue exercise at Lake Norman and Lake James parks to simulate a response to a fictional Hurricane Yugo that followed a similar path as Hurricane Hugo from September 1989 — the exercise tested crew readiness and coordination. Statesville Record & Landmark
