- ➤ On Friday, about 2,000 sixth-graders from I-SS and MGSD went to the Iredell County Fairgrounds to explore career options at the fourth annual Careers on Wheels event—nearly 70 companies offered interactive displays about jobs in health care, manufacturing, hospitality, and the auto field. - ➤ North Iredell High School senior Lily Pope finished her 300-hour vet pre-apprenticeship at Animal Hospital of Statesville and learned skills like drawing blood, helping vet techs and watching surgeries—she plans to study animal sciences or biology in college and work toward becoming a vet. - ➤ On Sunday, I-CARE Inc. warned that its community programs serving the Statesville area may face delays if the government shutdown continues—funds for projects like the Community Services Block Grant, LIHEAP and Weatherization Assistance risk being halted while Head Start programs stay funded.
