- ➤ The Aspen Institute named Mitchell Community College as one of 200 institutions eligible to compete for a $1 million prize for community college excellence on Tuesday — the selection was based on strong student outcomes in retention, completion, transfer, and bachelor's attainment. - ➤ The Statesville ABC Board distributed $100,000 through its Education Grant Program to 11 local agencies on Tuesday to support substance abuse prevention and education efforts — including tutoring, recovery, and family support services.
