  • United Way of Iredell County and local nonprofits are helping neighbors amid falling food donations by asking residents to donate at local pantries and events like Pumpkin Fest. They said every donation goes directly to food purchases—supporting bulk buying efforts to stock pantries countywide.  Iredell Free News
  • Mooresville-Lake Norman Rotary has presented the Paul Harris Fellow Awards to honor individuals who live by Rotary values; rotarians earn points for each donated dollar to R.I. and may transfer them to a deserving recipient + the program supports community service.  Mooresville Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Attorney General Jeff Jackson and 38 other state officials are urging Congress to clarify the hemp definition to keep THC products away from children+they warn unregulated items sold in gas stations and online may cause serious harm like hallucinations and vomiting.  WHKY

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday, October 31, high school football games in the Western Piedmont, Western Foothills and Northwestern conferences showed clear wins—teams like Chase, East Burke and West Iredell posted strong scores while several matchups ended in shutouts and overtime wins.  WHKY
  • The Mooresville Blue Devils won the North Piedmont Conference championship after beating Lake Norman on Halloween with a 23-21 finish; senior quarterback Brody Norman threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Dom Morin with 10 seconds left as nearly 5,000 fans (in attendance) cheered the dramatic game. The teams will learn their playoff fates when the 7A brackets are released Nov. 2.  Mooresville Citizen
