Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 2nd of November.
Good morning, Mooresville.
🏘️ Community
The Iredell Council on Aging will serve free meals and host community activities for county residents aged 60 and older at four sites—one in Mooresville and others in Harmony, Statesville and Troutman—each weekday.
Meals will be provided at 11 a.m. from Monday through Friday, and transportation will be available for those who need extra help if they call by noon the day before.
🏛️ Government
Construction of a new bridge in Mooresville will begin tomorrow to replace the nearly 48-year-old structure—local drivers will face a detour for about a year during the project.
Today, the Office of State Fire Marshal urged local residents to test their smoke alarms and replace batteries as they turned back their clocks for the end of Daylight Saving Time.
The agency recommended upgrading to alarms with a sealed 10-year battery—steps that can significantly reduce the risk of fatal home fires.
🏈 Sports
On Halloween, the Mooresville Blue Devils beat the Lake Norman Wildcats 23–21 in a conference championship game by scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 10 seconds left—securing a thrilling win.
The game highlighted a standout moment in the season for Mooresville sports.
