A recent economic report (released earlier this month) showed Iredell County ranked 94th of 100 for economic distress, placing it among the least distressed areas locally.
🎓 Education
The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board elected Kevin Angell (District 2) as chair and Doug Knight (District 6) as vice chair in Monday’s meeting.
The board also approved limiting out-of-district enrollment at nine schools for the 2026-2027 school year due to enrollment trends.
Aden Tran (a Northview Middle student who began playing the viola two years ago) has been selected for the Western Piedmont Symphony Youth Orchestra and the N.C.
Music Educators Association’s Junior Western Regional All-State Honors Orchestra.
🌲 Environment
The nonprofit that protects the Catawba River basin recently named a new executive director who said he believes deeply in the mission (to secure the watershed's future).
He will guide upcoming efforts to foster water health in the area.
