The local hemp dispensary faces closure in 2026 due to rising federal restrictions on hemp — Apotheca's chief compliance manager said the new laws may force the business to shut down.
Today, the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce welcomed new businesses with ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
Local additions include Flo Med Spa & Wellness, States Drug, Energized Spirit, MichaelAngelo’s, The Joint Chiropractic and Candlewood Suites Mooresville at Lake Norman, offering services from wellness to luxury retail.
🎓 Education
Iredell County is hosting America 250 art, essay & multimedia contests for grades 7-12 to explore local history with $500 and $250 prizes awarded at a recognition ceremony.
Students must register online by Dec. 30 and submit their work by May 23.
🏛️ Government
Eligible low-income households who did not receive an automatic heating payment began applying on Dec.
10 for a one-time payment sent to their heating vendor, and additional qualifying households may apply from Jan. 2 until funds run out. Applicants can apply online, by phone or in person.
