If your child goes to , plan for a different week. announced Thursday that the school closes at 3 p.m. Friday and stays closed through Wednesday, Nov. 11, for cleaning after reports of persistent mold in classrooms. Students and staff will have remote learning Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday is the scheduled Veterans Day holiday.

The district says it believes there's no "immediate threat to the health or safety of any students or staff" regarding indoor air quality. Administrators think the problems stemmed from inoperable HVAC units, which have been repaired. Chief Operations Officer Mark Shinkaruk told the school board the district was notified in late July and responded within 24 hours.

  • Air ducts and air handlers: professionally cleaned while building is empty
  • Fine mist microbial cleaning product: applied throughout the building
  • Air scrubbers: running 48-72 consecutive hours
  • HVAC filters: replaced throughout the building
  • Follow-up air testing: results expected in about one week

Air testing at Coddle Creek led up to the closure

  1. Aug. 11Outside assessment finds elevated humidity and Aspergillus/Penicillium spore counts.
  2. Sept. 2Second round of indoor air quality testing.
  3. Oct. 15Most comprehensive test, with 51 indoor sampling locations and one outdoor sample.
  4. Nov. 6School closes at 3 p.m. for cleaning.
  5. Nov. 11Last day of the closure, which falls on Veterans Day.
